Americans are split on whether Trump should be forcibly removed from office ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, according to a survey.
- Roughly 9 in 10 Americans oppose the actions taken by Trump supporters at the US Capitol this week, according to PBS NewsHour-Marist poll released Friday.

The vast majority of Americans oppose the invasion of the US Capitol this week by supporters of President Donald Trump, with most blaming the president himself for what happened, according to a survey released Friday.
Just 8% of Americans supported the pro-Trump insurrection, according to the PBS NewsHour-Marist poll of some 875 US adults.
At the same time, nearly two-thirds of those surveyed - 63% - say President Trump is responsible for what happened on Wednesday, when five people died , including a US Capitol police officer, and lawmakers were forced to flee for safety, delaying the recognition of President-elect Joe Biden's victory in what many have termed an attempted coup d'etat .
Democrats have responded to Trump's incitement by calling for his removable from office even before Biden's January 20 inauguration, invoking the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, which allows Trump cabinet officials to determine the president unfit for office, and threatening another round of impeachment if they don't.
Democratic voters overwhelmingly approve of this, with 84% telling pollsters that Trump should be removed before his term is up. Even 15% of Republicans agree. But overall, the country is about evenly split, with 48% supporting Trump's early removal and 49% opposed.
The survey has a 4.8% margin of error.
